Music and Art
Music
Culture is an integral part of Follina. Since the abbey was built it has been a place of study and erudition; a centre of spirituality and religious culture.
Even today Follina’s cultural life revolves around the monastery, especially with regard to music: over the course of the year, the abbey hosts several concerts, including those of international importance, in a beautiful setting that creates a unique moment for each event. There is also a popular music culture: the Follina band, which is made up of about 30 pieces and also performs successfully in national events.
There is also an important music school in the town, which promotes musical culture through concerts and master classes. Furthermore, there are often exhibitions of contemporary and non-contemporary artists.
Art
Follina is the birthplace of Jacopo Bernardi, priest, poet and teacher, and of the great artist Sandro Nardi, who has participated in numerous group exhibitions with De Pisis, De Chirico, Carrà, Sironi, Morandi, and Campigli, and whose works are on display in the council chamber of Follina’s town hall. Among other things, it is worth visiting the following artistic places: the old power hammer for metalworking – the Paoletti mill in Follina – The College of San Giuseppe – the Austro-Hungarian Memorial Monument – the Santa Scolastica spring.
